Existing tools in the realm of EBPA, automation, system integration, data warehousing, enterprise applications, etc. can be viewed as subsystems of a BOS. The functionalities of a Business Operating System will be built upon these subsystems, just as the functionalities of a Computer Operating System are built upon subsystems like the CPU, the memory and the file system.
As per Gartner’s report, “a BOS is a management system that lies at the convergence of a business operating model, an enterprise performance management (EPM) framework and the business operational intelligence”.
