8 Prepare a new or an existing SQL Server for EPC Suite databases with enabled SQL Authentication and File Streaming
9 Allow SQL Server incoming connections from EPC Server hosts created before on port 1433 (or the port that is used for SQL Database connections)
10 Create the SQL databases required for EPC and Cognos (epc5, epc5p, epc5r, jmsmq, cognosdb)
11 Create SQL User and assign him as dbo privileges of all five databases created in the step above
12 Download all the required software for the deployment

Create three security groups in Active Directory for EPC user synchronization.
  • Suggested names for the security groups: EPC Administrators, EPC Modeler Users, EPC Portal Users
22 Optional – IF automatic user creation in EPC is required
Create a service account for AD user synchronization.
  • We strongly suggest configuring the user to have a non-expiring password.
23 Optional – IF SSL Encryption is required or user friendly URL is required
Create DNS Aliases for EPC Server host, Cognos Server host and Linux Server host
24 Optional – IF Single Sign On feature is required
Create keytab file for SSO for the new EPC Web Portal
25 Optional – IF Client – Server communication encryption is required
  1. Prepare an SSL Certificate for EPC Web portal communication encryption (certificate chain and private key in pem format)
  2. Prepare a JKS keystore with a Certificate / private key pair for EPC Server and modeler communication encryption.
  3. Prepare a PFX store with key pair for Cognos communication encryption
26 Prepare the Jump machine (install Putty and WinSCP clients) for Linux host connections
27 Prepare all the required information for the deployment:
  1. Server names for deployment of EPC 10 Suite
  2. Server aliases (if is the case)
  3. Service account name and password for EPC user synchronization setup
  4. Domain name
  5. Domain NetBIOS name
  6. The names of the security groups
  7. The domain controller name for LDAP connection
  8. The SSL keystores (PFX and JKS) and pem files
  9. The keytab file
  10. The deployment files (EPC Server deployment package, Cognos Server package, Cognos framework, Docker package)
28 Create a support ticket in the Interfacing Support Portal when your team is available for EPC Suite deployment.
