Interfacing Technologies Corporation is pleased to announce that it has been acknowledged by Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, as an early provider of Business Operating System (BOS) — the organizational equivalent of an in-vehicle navigation system — aimed at guiding organizations in planning and executing their strategy in order to achieve their objectives.

Organizations involved in digital business transformation must understand not only how they operate today but also how their target operating model will affect the delivery of stakeholder value. They need to adapt, aligning externally focused customer-driven interactions with internally focused business operations, measure this alignment and deliver real-time feedback on any business initiative. In this context Gartner envisions BOSs as systems “… that can unlock a broad range of management information…” in order to support and guide organizations through digital business transformation. Gartner makes the strategic assumption that “by 2018, CIOs who rely on a BOS for digital business transformation will turn the 70% failure rate of transformation initiatives into a 70% success rate”

The emergence of the concept of BOS reflects the need to unify existing efforts towards the organizational efficiency in the context of digital business transformation

Existing tools in the realm of EBPA, automation, system integration, data warehousing, enterprise applications, etc. can be viewed as subsystems of a BOS. The functionalities of a Business Operating System will be built upon these subsystems, just as the functionalities of a Computer Operating System are built upon subsystems like the CPU, the memory and the file system.
As per Gartner’s report, “a BOS is a management system that lies at the convergence of a business operating model, an enterprise performance management (EPM) framework and the business operational intelligence”. This brings some benefits such as situational awareness and increased performance, which are key contributions of Interfacing Technologies to its clients. Interfacing has been repeatedly acknowledged in Gartner reports for these contributions (see Operational Intelligence Report in 2013 and 2015, Market Guide and Market Scope for EBPA in 2014 and 2015).
